What does Handicap markets mean?

The purpose of the handicap markets is for the perceived weaker team to be given a theoretical head start on which basis betting takes place, with the odds on the two teams brought closer together. The idea is that it should be close to a draw when the handicap is taken into account and the prices close to the same. The winner is the selection whose score during the event, with the handicap taken into account, proves to be the better score.
